Mommy Don’t Take Your Love To Town

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE I’m slowly realizing I’m kinda a creative sorta mutt. I had a brain tickle hinting that I write a song. My attention span plus grasp of music is lagging so I borrowed Kenny’s song to tweak. Kenny looks like he was a dog lover; I’m sure he smiles when he hears my rendition. I bury my bucket list under a tree root near camp. Yup, I dug that baby up & crossed songwriting right off my list. (I rewrote some of the lyrics to Kenny Rogers – Ruby, Don’t Take Your Love To Town.) You’ve painted up your lips  Rolled & curled your tinted hair Moms are you contemplating going out somewhere? The shadows on the wall tell me the sun is going down Oh Mommy, take your dog to town It wasn’t me who begged for a companion to adore But I was proud to offer my puppy love some more And yes it’s true I’m not the pup that I used to be Oh Mommy I still need your company It’s hard to love a dog whose fur falls to the floor You always have to sweep it right out the scamper door But it’s not wrong I’ve heard them say to take me along Oh Mommy please take me to town Moms leaving now cuz I just heard the slamming of the door The way I know I’ve heard it slam 100 times before And if I could I’d bark my say you would stick around Oh Mommy, please take your dog to town Oh Mom, for God’s sake turn around My Mama’s wonderful friend Denise plays a mean ghee-tar so she will play while I sing my heart out. This endeavor is a couple months out. Just thought I’d give you all a heads up as to what we’ve been doing. Also, Moms get a fold-up kayak! Yay for her…not so much for me. She is making me sit in it. Yes, we both fit but I’m nervous being in it on land. I can’t imagine being in it all wibbly-wobbly in the water. Moms will post pictures the next day or 2. Luv, Otis
